“I have started my diet plan by skipping rice in my meals!!!”

“Weight lose karne ke liye gym ke alaava koi aur tareeka hain !!!”

“I am very active, I take the stairs everyday yet I don’t lose weight!!!”

“Maine suna hain agar subah uthke garam paani ke saath shehad milake piyo toh use weight kam hota hain.”

“Tummy toner belt will help me sweat my weight and fat away.”

“I am a foodie, so I am bound to put on weight.”
“I am trying the GM diet which helps lose 5-8 kgs in 2 weeks.”

Most people fail to understand weight loss and their body’s relationship with food.
If weight loss is your objective, then one needs to understand what to eat and when to eat rather than randomly restricting yourself from eating.

5 TIPS for your HIPS

Tip 1: Do not take advice from your colleagues or neighbors who themselves are clueless about food and food habits. There are as many opinions as there are people. You need some pro tips ( this can be the last tip instead of the first too )

Tip 2: Eat well and Eat right : One needs to start eating the right kind of food and at the right intervals throughout the day.

Food is fuel. You wouldn’t starve your car out of petrol and expect it to run efficiently would you? In a similar way, successful weight loss is not about “starving” and neither is it about “feasting”. It is about Nourishing your body with the healthy, local, seasonal, high fibre food which will help you lose weight. Best way is to eat a wide variety of enough food to meet your body’s needs. Include plenty— of fruits and veggies through out the day. And no, unfortunately, potato chips don’t count as veggies!

Tip 3: The only way to lose it is to “move it move it” as all the animals from Madagascar say.

Note: Running to the refrigerator is not considered exercise nor is moving within your office premises.

Tip 4 : Sustainable weight loss will always be a by-product of a Good Eating Pattern and Healthy Lifestyle.

Stay away from fad diets — they are extreme and not sustainable. The results are quick but the effect is not long lasting and it doesn’t take long to go back to square one.

Its not that diabetes, heart disease and obesity runs in your family. Its that no one runs in your family. So find a sport or hobby you like (Binge Watching movies and Reading Books is not included), and if you don’t like any sports go for a walk but please don’t enter a dhaaba by mistake. If you are too lazy to go out then do Suryanamskars/ Skipping/Spot Jogging at home. If you dont know how to do any of this then Google Nani Zindabad.

Tip 5: “I Know Exercise is very essential but i don’t have the time.” If only that precious time was taken into account while using twitter/ whatsapp or Facebook and BTW How do we manage to Eat, Sleep, Poop, Urinate in spite of being short on “Time”. What reading is to the mind, exercise is to the body. If you skip exercise don’t expect results.

For the fresher’s start with 15 mins and gradually increase the timing.

Note:15 mins is not short so don’t get happy. If you think one minute goes by really fast it means you’ve never tried planking.

Finally, One guideline applies to fat and thin people alike:

If you’re fat, don’t eat – FAST

If you’re thin, don’t eat – FAST

Chew your food 32 times (ok maybe not 32 times literally but you get the drift)

As a wise man once said “Drink your food and Eat your water!”
